IAC 2022: PLATiNO developed by SITAEL selected for the first European QKD satellite system EAGLE1 by ESA and SES Satellites

Contract signed at IAC 2022 in Paris by the European Space Agency – ESA and SES Satellites. PLATiNO, state of art of small satellite developed by SITAEL has been selected as the satellite platform for the first European QKD satellite system EAGLE1.

September, 22nd 2022 – Yesterday at IAC 2022 in #Paris the European Space Agency – ESA and SES Satellites signed the contract for the first European QKD satellite system EAGLE1.

Validating in orbit the QKD technology, EAGLE1 will be a crucial achievement in the field of small satellites based cybersecurity applications.

SES Satellites will lead a consortium of 20 European companies and institutions, including SITAEL as SATELLITEPRIME.

The satellite platform selected for this mission is PLATiNO, state of art of small satellites and developed by SITAEL together with TAS-I, Leonardo and Airbus Italia for the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana.
