SITAEL explores new opportunities for space cooperation in Chile
SITAEL took part in a mission to Chile focused on developing dialogue and identifying opportunities for cooperation in the space sector, bringing together institutional, academic and industrial stakeholders from Italy and Chile.
As part of the mission, SITAEL organised the international seminar “Space Economy between Italy and Chile: Industrial Collaboration, Innovation and Economic Development” in collaboration with Universidad de los Andes. The event provided a platform for discussion on the development of the space sector and on possible areas of cooperation, including satellite manufacturing and integration, as well as services and applications based on satellite data.
With the support of the Italian Embassy in Santiago, the SITAEL delegation also met with representatives of the Chilean Ministries of Defence, Mining, and Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the potential application of space technologies across different sectors and to explore areas of common interest.
The mission also included the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding with Universidad de los Andes and DTS – Desarrollo de Tecnologías y Sistemas. The agreements provide a framework for exploring future scientific, technological and industrial cooperation between the organisations.
Through these activities, the mission contributed to the broader dialogue between Italy and Chile in the space sector, supporting exchanges between institutions, academia and industry and establishing a basis for further cooperation.
